Women and Girls Network May 2025

A Woman’s Journey

Jo from Represent Women led a session at the May Connected Voice Women and Girls network to explore a woman’s journey through life and all the services she could access along the way.

It was a great way for the group to highlight the value of their own services, explore how gender and sex impact a woman’s life and create a ‘map’ of all the wonderful services in the local area.

It also provided the opportunity to think about how fragile some of our support services for women and girls are, with gaps in statutory services being filled by VCSE services with varying, and at times short-term, funding.

The group were encouraged to think about what using a gendered lens and an intersectional approach truly means. Asking the questions- How do different women experience and access services? What different barriers do women face? What additional services do some women need?

Meet Chloe who runs the network

Chloe Titterton Connected Voice

Hi I’m Chloe a Support and Development Officer at Connected Voice. I work with many organisations across Newcastle and Gateshead to help them with several things:

 · Review your policies and procedures

· Tailored funding searches and review of funding bids

· Help you understand legal and governance structures

· Deliver training on several subjects

· Organise network events

· Encourage and connect with other organisations and develop partnerships

· Stay informed with relevant updates

· Facilitate two peer network events: Women and Girls Network and Gateshead Youth and Community Network

I facilitate the Women and Girls Network, a place where women who work within the women and girls’ sector can come, share updates, connect, and uplift one another. Recently, there has been a wonderful partnership formed with the lovely Joanne Armstrong (who we all know and love). Joanne now delivers half of the session where we focus on a certain topic or issue, and we discuss as a group and ultimately, have fun with it! It’s a light-hearted, empowering, safe space for women to come and network. So … join us!
