Each year from June 1st – June 7th volunteers across the world are thanked and celebrated for their contribution to the charity sector, and whilst here at Represent Women we don’t have any of our own volunteers we know many of our tier 1 members do.
Volunteers are the backbone to many women and girls services and the work they provide is invaluable. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who give their time, dedication, and commitment to the sector.
However, despite this and despite the growing need for volunteers, the number of adults who formally volunteer at least once a year, has fallen from 45% in 2013/14 to 28% and the number of adults who volunteer formally at least once a month, has dropped even lower to 17% with the Nort East having the lowest volunteer rates across the country.
But why are we not seeing individuals volunteer? In their own words “I don’t know any groups that need help” or “I couldn’t find any opportunities.” (Government Community Life Survey)
That’s where we’re stepping in.
So many of our amazing member organisations are volunteer led and others rely heavily on help from their volunteers so we know the opportunities are out there.
We’ve compiled a list of seven current/ recently opened volunteer vacancies across the women and girls sector, all of which are open for applications now.
So, if you are interested in volunteering but don’t know where to start, look no further.
