Power of Women
What They Do
The Power of Women Campaign was founded by the late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL, inspired by her determination to transform the outlook for girls in the Tees Valley after Plan UK’s 2016 report named Middlesbrough the worst place to grow up as a girl. Jane’s vision was to uplift aspirations, challenge stereotypes, and empower the next generation. Her legacy drives our mission today.
Through their work, they have seen first-hand how young girls often experience low confidence and self-esteem, a lack of voice, limited aspirations, educational disengagement, and social isolation. Their educational programmes, delivered in Primary, Secondary, FE and HE are designed to combat these barriers and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for girls and young women.
