My Sister’s Place

What They Do

My Sisters Place is a Domestic Abuse Support Service and we provide support to those who have or who are experiencing domestic abuse. The service offers both practical, holistic and therapeutic support around domestic abuse. Referrals to the service are accepted from a range of external agencies and self-referrals direct from the client. We are a needs led service using a trauma-informed approach.

Within the service a client who is assessed as high or very high-risk will be given priority and supported by an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA). Clients who are assessed as medium to standard risk will be provided with support from My Sisters Place services depending on their needs. This may include the support of the Economic Abuse Support Team. All clients accessing the service are assessed using the SAFE LIVES DASH risk indicator checklist.

Priority will be given to the Middlesbrough area. People referred from outside this area will be given initial advice but will be signposted to an appropriate service in their area and will be given emergency numbers for their area including the national helpline number for domestic abuse.
