Women’s Workshop
What They Do
We have been involving and supporting local women since 1998 when our project, then known as ‘Fourth Action’ was first set up as a Partnership. In 2005 we became a Company Limited by Guarantee. That means we are non-profit making and have a Board who oversee what we do.
From Summer 2016 Fourth Action became known as the Women’s Workshop, so that women could get a clearer idea about what we are about. In 2022 we formally changed our name to ‘Women’s Workshop.’
Our organisation exists to ‘promote equality in communities’ and that means addressing differences and injustices as a core activity of our work. As a women-led, women-run organisation, our central aim is to challenge gender inequality and promote gender justice for all in a way that is proportionate to the issues people face. We set out to amplify the voices of those who experience multiple forms of discrimination and exclusion, whose interests are at the heart of our practice.
Our aim is to be available, relevant and inclusive, throughout the community.
Our work benefits from including a diverse group of people, and we endeavour to meet practical challenges raised by disabilities, language, and other potential barriers.
Our commitment is to redress discrimination on the grounds of gender, social class, race, religion, status, culture, sexual orientation, disability and age, both in our own practice and in society.
